how can i share an IP on cable ?

hi

i have 2 PCs, 1 cable account, both have NIC cards and USB.

how can i share 1 IP and 1 cable on them both without having to purchase any additional hardware or software ?

basically i am just looking for ability to have both of em up once in a great while to play online games with more then just myself in the room.

i have LAN cables, USB cables, Null Modem too i think still somewhere.


is there anyway to do this without having to buy any hubs, switches, routers and whatnot ? i am completely illiterate when it comes to those things and wouldnt know how to set one up so gotta work with what i know, have and can plug in.
