Do alot of printers made know have that?
A few consumer level HP printers do.Originally posted by: MainFramed

That's certainly a viable option, except that may not meet the "without being connected to the printer by an actual cord" parameter.Originally posted by: iamme
is your printer connected to a desktop?
then you can just share the printer over your wifi network. of course, your desktop must be on to print from you to print from your laptop.

Also requires the machine to which the printer is connected to be on.
Agreed, it isn't very clear (which would be why I used "may" above).Originally posted by: iamme
the OP didn't specify if "without being connected to the printer" was just the laptop, which i assumed.

Wireless print server would likely be the most cost effective solution.

Many obvious scenarios:Originally posted by: PlatinumGold
how would it not meet the criteria? the cord would only go from the printer to the desktop NOT to the laptop, hence, the laptop would print wirelessly.

- No desktop
- Desktop(s) in alternate location
- Wanting to install the printer as a stand alone device
- Etc.
Last I checked, that was precisely what I had done:Originally posted by: PlatinumGold
it is a possibilty.
there are two options here, to simply say, it can't be done without more equipment OR
suggest how it can be done WITH additional equipment.
it's up to him to fill in the blanks.
