How can I set up a linux system to be used on a 1080p 32" TV?

I've got my PS3 set up with linux on my 32" 1080P tv. The problem is that eveything is VERY small.

What can I do to scale everything up? is it even possible? Are there any front-ends that I could use?

As odd as it sounds, this is my primary computer for the time being.

Well the native res of that 1080P TV is going to be 1920x1080, so things are going to look small. If this is just a TV, then you might be stuck. I tried this on a 720p TV and couldn't get it to work on any settings other than the native res of the TV.
I think your best bet is going to be to leave the video res settings alone and tweak the Icon size and text size.

I modified xorg.conf to include DisplaySize at a very low number which I thought would make everything larger.

As linux is booting, all text size is quite big, but as soon as I get to the login screen everything goes back to normal.

xdpyinfo reports my DPI to be 192, but everything is still 75dpi.
