The sale or barter of any such mileage, certificates, awards or benefits other than by United is expressly prohibited. Any mileage, certificates, awards or benefits transferred, assigned or sold in violation of the Program Rules, in addition to exposing the member to the penalties otherwise associated with violations, may be confiscated or cancelled. The use of award tickets that have been acquired by purchase, barter, or other conduct in violation of Program Rules may result in the confiscation of the tickets, denial of boarding with respect to the ticket holder, and, at United's discretion, completion of the travel only upon payment of an applicable fare.

Just take off a few days and fly to Europe or something. I would love to have 60,000 miles to use.

How could you earn 60k miles and have no way to use it? Anyways, you can allow family or friends to use them so they won't go to waste.

Are you sure? I always thought the frequent flyer is the only one that can use them

Anyways, will 60,000 miles really give me a trip to Europe? I got around 90,000 with Delta ... maybe I should ....

I've seen people selling them on ebay. I guess what they do is they put up a offer like a ticket good anywhere in the continental US (25K miles) and then the seller will use his miles to get a ticket for the buyer. I guess the buyer wins the auction then e-mails the seller with where and when they want to fly and then the seller books the flight using his/her frequent flier account.

Doing this is against the terms and conditions the frequent flyer account...but who's going to tell.

If you really have 60k on united and 90k on delta you can make a good chunk of change because auctions on ebay for tickets good in the continental US usually go for 2-300 bucks

You could check that out. I don't know much about it- I saw it on some news show.

There are several charities that have use for FF miles.

Says nothing about "giving" them away. Run an auction on ebay for 1 unopened coke can, lucky winner gets a free bonus of 60,000 FF miles on United.

I dont why you would never use them. We got a free airfare to Jamaica via FF miles. I think it took 50,000 American Airlines miles for 2 round trip tickets.

I used to fly a lot for work at a previous company, I don't fly too much anymore. Commercially anyways.

Yes, you can buy a ticket for someone else on United. You have to make the call and reservation, they have to pay the taxes and fees and pick it up. I got a ticket for my gf to go to Europe last spring, she "gave" me $350 and I "gave" her a "free" ticket. I think I have about 500,000miles right now.

50,000 will get you a saver award travel to Europe, you just need to book a bit early and avoid certain dates.
