I've been watching lots of real video files the past couple days, and I want to save them on my computer, not just the link. How can I save them so that I won't have to stream them off the server, and keep them forever (because I imagine alot of them will disappear in a few weeks).

yeah...
i suppose you can d/l from there too.

:)

but not all stream files are d/l'able.
sometimes they are blocked from the server.

i'm sure the security can be broken...
but too much effort for me.

Hehe, I just searched on google for asf recorder and that was the first link to pop up.

But that doesn't seem to work with real video, just windows media player junk. Trying it on a cnn video right now, doesn't seem to be working. It streamed just fine from their little interface, but not it gives me "Request Time Out".

I'm trying to save some of the stuff from www.bbc.co.uk... They have some neat videos of the European reaction that I'd like to save, and other stuff too.

Why are these websites so difficult???

Looking through newsgroups, it looks like saving Real Media files is going to be hopeless. That sucks.
