If you have access below you can drill holes in the floorplate. Or use 802.11x.

I think he means coax

Well drilling through the floorplate OR pulling the carpet back and running on the inside of the tack strips will work. Borrow a carpet kicker to put the carpet back. So you are running it along the wall and beneath the carpet hehe. But it's neater than going straight across and it won't feel like a mini speed bump on the floor when rolling a chair across it, etc.

Oh and if you've never worked with w2w carpet before, prepare for some bloody fingers - those tack strips are prickly little things.

Run it through the air ducts.
Or, run it into the floor along side an air duct, across the basement ceiling, and back up along side another air duct.

Take a tablesaw to cut a groove in the back of your baseboards. I did that for my room, hides cables nicely.

Isn't that called a dado? Dado this, dado that your wood may split when you push on it hard with a cable shoved in that! :p

Seriously sounds like a good idea if the OP has baseboards at floor level.

This is usually a pretty easy and neat way to hide cable if you can't go through the floor or walls. There's usually enough "give" to the carpet that you can tuck it nicely under the baseboards.

That groove is a dado.
If it's good quality lumber and not that foam crap, this works well.

A little 1 inch wide masking tape on the back holds the cable in place while re-installing without adding any bulk.

I thought there was a company that made a box that used the AC line wiring of the house, it required a box on each end, but I cannot find it now.

Run a cable away from the wall and all the way around the earth. Voila, no cable along the wall, under the carpet, under the basement or the ceiling.

Are you able to access underneath the house or the attic? Not enough info given. I worked as a low voltage electrician and would have tried to find a way to install the cable in a wall with a wall plate. Amateurs, satellite and cable installers poke holes in the floor, etc. to get the job done.
