How can I retrieve the serial number/key for my OEM software?

I got a laptop that came with the OEM Cyberlink blu-ray software (Power Director). However, I did not get a hard copy of the software. I upgraded my laptop from Vista 64 to Win7 Pro and I want to be able to use my BD-ROM but I do not want to buy another blu-ray program. I still have an image of the old Vista in my WHS box. Where will I go to extract the key so I can download the Power Director and install it?

If you did a direct upgrade from Vista to 7, you can get the key in your laptop with Magic Jellybean or Belarc Advisor. That might also work in your WHS box.

I did a clean install. Can I find it in the folder where it's already installed?

Most recovery programs get it from the Registry. A clean install kills that. But - you can try with Belarc or the Jellybean. Have you checked the folder where it is installed? I usually put my keys there in a text file using Notepad.

Well, I can reinstall Vista using WHS and that should get me in the same state when I last backed it up. I guess I can do that.
