how can i retrieve deleted stuff from the harddrive

I accidentally DELETED all of my buddies music he had on his computer. I need to know of recovery software that will let me go into the harddrive and retrieve that information. PLEASE let me know.

Most disk maintenance software can help you--BUT DON'T INSTALL ANYTHING NEW, DEFRAG, or do basically anything with your drive until you can undelete them.

What filesystem are you using? There's quite a few FAT 32 disk recovery progs... but for NTFS, the only one i know of is Easy Recovery by On Track (http://www.ontrack.com/easyrecovery/)

I think they should still offer a free download of a functional (not fully afaik) version of their software.

As long as you have NOT written to the disk, or modified it in any way, your files should definately be recoverable from just a simple delete.

it is fat32 with winME - although i think that he has already recovered most of what he wanted to. i thank you all for your help
