how can I protect this?

Its our house number. I have done what was suggested apply minwax to the green part but the silver part (its a silver plate not paint) is beginning to peel off. Any suggestions?

Sorry if I have this wrong. You're saying the numbers are silver plate and the clover is wood?

To protect the wood you could first patch it with a wood filler or Bondo and then repaint it.

My computer is blowing the numbers up to giant size images for whatever reason and the numbers look like they are painted and chipping. If they are metal then you can get some Mother's metal polish to clean them up and protect them.

The clover is raised, the numbers are recessed. The silver part is not a paint its silver leaf.
The green is paint that has been minwaxed before.

Clear coat paint maybe? Or just let it go. I like materials that are decaying/deconstructed. Probably in the minority though.

Possibly a marine spar varnish on all of it.
But check for UV resistance of whatever you pick, that's going to be your biggest problem.
Many clear coatings will yellow or completely cloud up over time.

A friend of a friend (amateur artist) said she can airbrush some silver flake(?) paint on it if all the silver leaf falls off. She said the results would be similar. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

fix it up and coat with west system or similar. I will last forever. West system epoxy is designed for building boats.
