How can I possibly solve this issue

Hello to all,

Please read my situation.

I have a dell laptop, 60gb sata HD.

XP was freezing constantly and the bsod coming out.

I try to reinstall XP but now it freezes on the second screen (the minutes one)

I run the dell bios diagnostic and it detects some error on the hard drive.

Here's my question, is there any chance that I can run like a scandisk from a bootable cd and fix this problem? At least any hope?

I dlded and burned Ultimate Boot CD which is suppose to have lots of handy tools,
But I'm not finding anything that can scan the HD for bad sectors.

Any help please!??? 🙁 Really not looking to replace my HD.

if your hard drive is developing bad sectors, you really don't want to just format it and continue. You should get whatever you can off of it and replace it. Cause it can die any minute (or at least develop more dead sectors, corrupting your windows install).
Hard failure cannot be fixed with software, it is fixed by replacing the faulty hardware.

Now the question is... are you getting bad sectors... what is the "some error on the drive" specifically?
