Keep it on a large thumb drive around your neck. (or several, if necessary).

"Why do you only have 2 CDz on your 30gb iPod?" hehe

What he said. TrueCrypt lets you create a virtual drive, backed by a single encrypted file. Pick a string password / pass phrase and you're golden. It even supports giving the virtual drive two passwords. One exposes one set of files, the other exposes another. This way if someone points a gun to your head and says "type in the password" you can type in the password that revealse your notes on the bible, rather than your porn collection. Best of all, it's free!

Well...I don't know any programs but...

Right click on your folder and choose Properties. Then click on Customize. And then change the icon to the "blank" icon (it should be somewhere near the beginning of the icon selection) Afterwards, rename the title " ". The way you create that "character" is by holding down Alt and press 0 1 6 0 (in that order). You should end up with a blank space and it will be acceptable as a name. Afterwards...just hide the folder somewhere desktop where nobody will notice it! Make sure to make everything in the folder "hidden" if you don't want people to search for it!

That's awesome.

it was awesome. ;)

:D

short of encryption, why not just burn the folders to DVD. Surely you can hide a DVD. :p

edit . . . make that an encrypted DVD.

:D

That's awesome. Is there also a way to account for space taken up by files, fooling someone into thinking a the files are larger or smaller or accounted for by other files?

The smart thing to do is to put that folder on a flash memory device and take it with you. You can also encrypt it there if you wish. Why leave anything incriminating on a computer?

I'd need a lot of flash drives

Another approach would be to smear poop all over your computer, keyboard, and mouse (and the hard drive if you're paranoid). I doubt too many people would even enter the same room as that machine, let alone use it.

TrueCrypt FTW

Not that I'd ever have a need for it... But it rocks. :p

If you are really paranoid about the government, you can use it to hide the 9/11 documentaries like Loose Change. Lol.
