how can i overclock a K6-2 500?

I've a K6-2 500, but i don't know what board it's running. one of those cheapy systems that has video, sound, modem, NIC, etc onboard. can anyone tell me what i can do to overclock it? i use much faster machines at work and i'm tired of the lag. any help would be apprectiated. thanks

You should at least find out what yuor system is before you start overclocking. If you're gonna give it a go anyway, you'll need to find your motherboard manual to get an idea of how to change the chip multiplier or system bus. Thats about all I can help you with for now.

it's a system that my dad put together for me, but i don't know what he put in it. and since he own's a computer store, it could be any number of parts from any number of distributors that he knows. but thanks for the help, i'll look into it.

I haven't been able to get anywhere overclocking my K6-2 500. It doesn't like changes in the front side bus, and the only way I could make it run 550 was to increase the voltage. Since I had a cheapy heatsink and fan on the CPU, I didn't trust this either. I've just lived happily with 500. Some people have had better luck though. Mine is an early 500, so it could be holding me back.

The post above is correct though. You really need to find out what you have in your system before you seriously start overclocking.
