I have a d-link xtreem G wireless router and I am trying to figure out how to open it up so all internal traffic can go between the LAN and wireless network yet still block ports coming into the router from the outside world.

Is this possible?

I think if you press the factory defaults reset button, you're all set! :D I know my router is configured that way by default...

Well I ask because internally it seems that on the local network we cant set up network games that each other can see, doing direct connects between the pcs seem blocked, etc.

Also sometimes you cant see each others shared folders or files, etc.

Make sure that NETBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers, this being off will keep you from browsing to the other computer.

that does sound more like a config problem on the computer end, not the router end. The built in windows XP firewall can also cause some difficulties if you have it enabled, you may have to set it up differently.
