How can I oc a 1.6a to 2.4?

I recently built a system with a pentium 1.6a, a Gigabyte 8IE-XP, and samsung pc2700 ram. I got it up to 2.133 ghz with a 133 fsb, but when I try to run it to 2.4, windows XP won't boot. What can I do to get it up higher?

Upping the voltage for the Vcore to 1.65 or 1.7 max should help in the overclocking. Also check your temps and try to bring em down as much as possible.

What mem ratio are you using? Are you using ASIII or a thermal pad? Intel stock fan or a third-party HSF? Try upping the voltage a bit (maybe 1.55-1.6v).

With that kind of information I wouldn't know where to begin!!!!! (Head explodes)

Gives us system specs and settings....

What kind of background do you have in ocing or ocing p4 rigs??? Just want to know how to explain things.

Oops.

I started overclocking P4 with this one, so i don't have too much prior experience. I currently have a stock HSF and the thermal pad. Prime 95 runs stable at 2.133, but boosts my CPU temps to around 55-57 C using speed fan as the monitoring utility. vcore is at the default.

System specs
1.6a Northwood
256 mb samsung 2700 Ddr ram.
retail HSF
300 watt power supply

all seems good...you should be able to hit 150fsb = 2.4GHz with no prob...
psu is a little weak tho...still ok...
you should up your vcore first...make sure you set all your memory setting to default...by spd...and ratio 1:1...you can tweak it later...
maybe if you don't use some of the features provided by the board...you should disable them...
and you should start out with the least hardware...like only cpu...a cdrom...a hd...a videocard (not o/ced)...a single stick of memory...
as for memory you can try putting hte single stick in different banks to see if that would help...
