How can I merge this unused space into my NTFS partition?

Here's what I got using PartitionMagic 7.0:

How can I merge this into my main partition? I tried creating another NTFS partition in the empty space, and then merge. PM doesn't allow it.

I had a similar scenario with a FAT partitioned drive, and could merge it by creating a FAT partition in the unused space.

Sure it's only 7MB, but...

When you let Windows 2k/XP partition and format a hardisk it will reserve 8MB for converting the disk from Basic to Dynamic. Even Partition Magic will reserve the 8MB if you partition the disk with it.

In short just leave it alone. It is after all only 8MB.....

There is always ~8MBs of unallocated space left over when you format a drive for Windows. Leave it alone.

I've never had 8MB of space left over, as some of you suggest this 'alway' happens, this clearly isn't the case.

Can you extend the current partition into the space without creating an extra partition? When I had this problem, I simply made the partition bigger to fill the gap.

If you format using a DOS boot disk then yes .
