How can I merge one picture into another in Photoshop?

Ok, this I'm sure is VERY simple for the Photoshop people. What I want to do is take one image from one picture and put it in another. Is it very easy to do? These are VERY simplistic pictures (hand drawings).

Let's say we want to put picture A into picture B. Open both pictures. Make sure that picture B is large enough to accomodate the addition of picture A. If it isn't, go to Edit and Resize to make picture B larger.

Select what you want from picture A with the lasso tool. If the lasso tool is too difficult to use, click and hold on the lasso tool button for more options, like the magnetic lasso tool. The same applies to the rectangular selection tool if you want to use that instead.

Once you have what you want selected, copy the selection and go to picture B. Paste the select and move it to where you want. You can use the airbrush tool with lowered opacity to try and blend the edges a little.

Select the surrounding area of the image you want to
cut with the wand tool or polygonal lasso tool or just
lasso tool. To invert the selection so you have the
image you want selected, go to Select--->
Inverse...then just drag the selection over to the
image you want to place it in or just copy and paste.

Thanks ALOT guys! I am a Photoshop retard but you guys helped me out alot. I got the images merged, and now I just need to have one of the images cast a shadow. Let say I have an image of a person standing up. How can I get a shadow of that person on the ground?

To make the shadow.... try making another copy of the person except try to have ONLY the person selected. This might take a while but it's doable with the magnetic lasso tool. Select the person and copy and paste. It should create a new layer with just the image of the person.

If you need to reselect this person, CTRL + click the layer and the person should be selected.

Then go to Edit -> Fill and fill it with black (you might have to select black as the foreground or background color first). Now you have a shadow standing up.

Keep the shadow selected (CTRL + click the layer again if need) and use the rotate / skew functions to tilt the shadow against the ground. Once you do that... try feathering the selection (SELECT-> FEATHER SELECTION, I think?) and adding a gaussian blur to blur the edges.

Finally, lower the opacity of the shadow layer so that some of the ground or background can show through.

You can also darken the bigfoot or the bunny before merging it so that the darkness will match the praying kid.
