How can I measure the speed of my @home connection?

I just had a cable (Rogers@home) installed in my computer and I was wondering if there is any software out there that could measure its speed. I know there is a significant increase in speed with surfing the web compared to my dial-up connection, but I still want to see the actual numbers that can be provided by benchmark test so I can compare these results with the Cable company's claims.

Anybody out there who knows a benchmark test software for cable speed? Thanks...

That site is external, so the results are pretty much meaningless.

Try downloading a big file off your ISPs server, that should give you an idea of your maximum bandwidth.

Go to 24.0.0.67/download.
If you look enough you'll find 10-18mb files, download one of them and watch the transfer rate. If it's under 70kb/sec call tech support.

If you want to find out your average throughput of @home, you can goto certain site that has a bandwidth meter on to see how fast is your connection. Another way is to download Lucent's network monitor app called VitalAgentIT. Have fun
