So far I have a

P3 600 Mhz
Intel Motherboard with case/psu
20 Gb HD
GF2 Gts with svideo out
SoundBlaster Live

All I need to do is buy the appropriate svideo/Audio cables and hook it up right? Or is there something i'm missing?
 
You're set for playback, except adding a wired or wifi-g card or USB adapter if you want to stream content from another PC or surf the web.

For recording you'd need a TV tuner card (or video capture card), and for better than VCR quality most likely a faster CPU.
 
Get a WinTV 250PVR Card for TV tuner and recording and you wont need to worry about hardware limiitations since it has onboard hardware recording. 😉 Uses only few percentage of total system resources. 😉
