A friend of mine owns a carpet cleaning company. Is it possible to when someone searches for "carpet cleaning atlanta" or "water damage atlanta" to make his website go to the top?

Good call. Click my sig...

The music on that site is annoying. (no offense)

And that old guy looks like a kickarse old man

I told her to record a custom midi, but she says she likes that just fine! Ugh. The whole site is just a placeholder till she gets me some more info. It's like pulling teeth. She never answers her email!

If I can get Google to crawl through the site, I'm raising my bill. As it is, Google has visited the site on a couple occasions, but it still doesn't come up in their database. I basically forced it to visit by using the AdWords feature.

Check out MagicPages. For ONLY US $99 we will GUARANTEE* you can be in the Top Ten on Google for your chosen 10 key phrases or your money back! :Q

Sig.

currently the #2 Brian Fields.

Apparently some Astrophysicist is a huge obstacle for me to tackle.

I bet we have enough people on AT to create a google bomb master sheet. Each of us could own 2 bombs each, with the results posted on the sites we own. 😀

the problem is you have to link it from sites that have a high pagerank...
I have no clue how mine got so high. but then again spicytuna isn't really a word.

So, ideally, if someone here made a small site with all of our personal google bombs on it, then everyone linked to that site, it would grow in popularity, and thus all the sites listed there would grow too?

It has to be linked by other high traffic sites. The more, the better.

And then the metatags are taken into account for search items?
From what I've heard, metatags don't matter much to Google. They're looking at text and links right on the page.

I wouldn't want to start playing too many games, Brian. If AT got flagged by Google, its ranking would drop.

So much for that great idea...
Hello Ornery,

We'd like to notify you that the AdWords system has slowed the delivery
of some of your ads because one or more of your keywords isn't meeting
the minimum required clickthrough rate (CTR).

It's critical that you review your ads as soon as possible. If your
keywords continue to perform below this minimum requirement, the system
may disable them completely.

According to our records, your account has been slowed twice already.
Because this is the third time the system has slowed your account due
to low performance, we will charge you a $5.00 fee to restore it.

Please visit
https://adwords.google.com/select/performance.html?hl=en_US now to
learn how to:
- Restore your account.
- Optimize your ads.
- Avoid this process in the future.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to send us an email by
logging in to your account and clicking 'Contact Us.'

Sincerely,

The Google AdWords Team
I finally found a reference to this detail in their FAQ, which is referred to in their Terms and Conditions:

Is there a minimum required clickthrough rate?
  • Yes. To protect the overall value of the AdWords program for Google users (and your potential customers), Google constantly monitors the clickthrough rates (CTR) of all accounts to ensure they're performing as well as they should.

    Account performance:
Each account is evaluated after every 1,000 ad impressions are delivered on Google. If the CTR for your account falls below a minimum required CTR (which varies by ad position but is 0.5% for the top spot and slightly reduced for each subsequent position), we'll only show your ads occasionally on your underperforming keywords. (The status of each of your keywords will be clearly indicated in your keyword reports.)

If your keywords don't improve, we may disable them. You'll then need to refine your campaign to improve its performance and effectiveness. After editing your campaign, you may restore full ad delivery to your account.

If you're interested in more information on how our system analyzes accounts and adjusts ad delivery, please feel free to dive into the nitty gritty.
What's the point of making a decent web site, if it doesn't get traffic? 😕
