How can I make Dead LCD Pixels

Lots of companies require X amount of dead pixels before replacing your lcd screen.

When I buy my lcd I don't want it to have dead or discolored pixels. In case that happens, is there a way that I can kill a few pixels to meet the minimum dead pixel requirement for warrenty replacement?

Not a good idea - probably not practical. I have had LCD monitors on laptops and now on both desktops, going back at leat 10 years - and have never seen a dead pixel on any of them. It is a much overblown malady.

When i buy my lcd i want it never end up with RGB white or dead pixels. Is there a way that i can make my monitor have dead pixels so that if anything happens then i can make X dead pixels so i can return it 🙂

If you're buying it at a store... insist that they plug it in on one of their computers on display so you can see it. If it has dead pixels, request a different one... if they refuse, tell them "ok, thanks anyways, I'll go check the store down the street"

I was under the impression that after LCDs are purchased and in use pixels fail.
I didn't even know there was a problem of buying LCDs with dead pixels.

I've read that too, but at least most of the dead pixels are manufacturing defects and are already there when the LCD is first turned on. So if you follow Jeff7181's advice you should be OK.

Intentionally damaging hardware to get an RMA is not ethical.

Rather than damaging it why not just take it back to the store for a refund and rebuy another one?

Or just follow Jeff7181's advice, that would be the smart thing to do.

Every see those dumb dell ads where they are shocking the computer and then they shock the intern? We have one of them at work, betch that would blow some pixels.

EDIT: The trying it at a store idea might work but I don't know many stores that are gonna open up a box like that. Would you go buy a LCD monitor from a store open box without a good explanation?
