I have an opteron 170, I notice if you look at the pins you'll see on just a small cluster of them, what appears to be white lines connecting them.. i dont know if this is bad but I want to know how I can test my processor to make sure its working the way its supposed to without problems before I OC

Thanks

if your system boots up, the processor is for sure running.

overclock in 1 MHz increments until your system crashes. you'll know what settings to stick with.

what about those little white lines? Are those anything to worry about? I was thinking maybe it was just the plastic from the actual socket.... but its only in a few tiny places....

Just run prime95 on it to stress test it at stock speeds. Run it for at least 8 hours and if it does ok and the temps stay relatively cool, you'll have no problems OC'ing it.
