OK so I am really good with electronics and I fix a lot of them but I still do not know how to solder.

I would like to start learning.

What do I need to buy? Any helpful guides on the internet? Advice?

Buy soldering gun or iron, buy solder if the gun etc doesnt come with it. Plug it in, after its hot you solder, solder is touching the hot end to the thing you wanna solder. The REALLY hard part, you feed solder to the hot tip. Ok so its easy even blondes can do it, its easier then it is for me to tell you how to do it, which I did a shitty job of.

After you practice a bit, pick a really well designed kit to build that produces something useful.

This FM transmitter is an excellent kit. Use it to send your tunes into the air at your house, so you can tune in anywhere.

The thing to remember is the solder will only stick well to a hot surface. Make sure the surface of both things you want to solder is hot, apply solder. Also you can't really get the heat transferred to the surfaces you want to head without a little solder, so make sure the iron has a bit of solder on the end to allow for maximum heat transfer.

For surface mount I recommend putting a dab of solder on only one pad, slide the part onto the pad as you heat it, then apply solder to the 2nd pad. Trying to prime both pads beforehand gets you into trouble.

Depends on what you're soldering. Big components with low pin counts are easy. Small components with lots of pins are very hard.
