How can I insert ?press F5 to run HDD diag? at the DOS/OEM splash screen or start programs from splash screen?

I have recently bought a new Seagate hard drive. What I want to do now is to use some megabytes on the hdd to save some diagnostics (Seatools). The partition should be ?hidden? like the ones on some OEMs systems.

At the screen where it says ?Press F2/del/F10 to enter setup? I would like to insert ?Press F5 to run hard drive diagnostics. If this is very difficult another acceptable solution for me would be just to keep the original splash screen without my custom text, but the computer should react when I press F5 (this should start the hdd diagnostics automatically).

I would of course be very grateful for any help?.

Hmmm...not sure of how to do that; what if you just put the HDD and/or system diagnostics on a bootable CD, change your boot order in BIOS to CD 1st, and run the diags. that way. I'm 99% certain you can download the bootable .ISO files for Seatools for free; and if you use or can get NERO, it's pretty easy to make a bootable CD.

I agree it would be nicer to set it up like you wanted; I guess I'm too lazy to do the research/work.
