How can I improve fps when making FRAPS movies?

I think I?ve put this in the correct forum?

I can?t get playable fps (only 7-8) when making Fraps movies of BF1942/DC. BF1942 is a 3+ year old game and I think my system is powerful enough to get much better rates. I?ve emailed Fraps and haven?t heard back from them.

Oppy 170 @ 2.6
2 gig ram running 1:1
7900GT stock 500/1500
recording half size (800 by 600)

I bought a X1900XT when it first came out and could record movies at 50+fps. Why is the fps so low with the 7900GT? I realize the GT isn?t a XT, but shouldn?t it be enough?

I?m not very familiar with NV drivers. Is there an obvious setting I?m missing? The game itself runs fine at 100+ fps. Only when recording does the fps drop into the basement.

Thanks for any input.

i don't see any obvious reason why u should experience a slow-down.
Check the cpu utilization when trying to do that with the 7900gt.If its too high that could explain it.
And try completely uninstalling any catalyst or forceware drivers. And reinstalling it.
Maybe that could help.
Hope i was of help and good luck.
