I am getting a new system soon and my dad wants Chinese windows and I want English windows (a lot of games don't work on Chinese window).
I see some computers when you boot up, give you option of which operating system to use. Could anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks a lot

Yeah partition it into two, or get two hard drives.

Windows xp will do the rest i do beleive, I am not sure about the others.

yeah what dOrKuS said. It's pretty simple. During installation you'll be asked for which partition so just pick the one that's not taken. You can use programs like PartionMagic to partition, but I like using fdisk.

How do you set up a system to select between OSes?

I want to set up WinXP, Win2k Pro , Win2k Server and possibly a flavor of Linux on one system and one hard disk.

Now, I know Win2k has a screen that allows you to select which OS to boot on startup, but what are the logistics of this? Which OS do i install first, and which will ultimately handle the boot selection? Should I just get Norton System Commander?

Since you're not going the win98 route I don't believe it will matter what sequence you use for win2k/XP. You should however install Linux last 'cause it will load its own boot manager.

If I had to pick a sequence I'd do it like this:

Win2k pro
Win2k Server
WinXP
Linux

As long as they have their own partitions you should be fine (you should be in no danger of your Windows system files getting mixed up).

This is just my theory, I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will flame me to hell and back 😉

If you're trying to dual-boot, make sure you install the older Win OS first. If you install the newer version first, you'll get an error message when you try and install the older version later on.

You'll probably want to make a bootdisk.

I remember downloading an updated version of FDISK to get over some kind of limitation. Not sure what it was about though. Anyone know?
