Though I do not require it for accessibility, I use the Alt-Text mouse cursor pop-up feature in web browsers all the time. In particular, I use it when catching up on forums where I can usually preview the original post of a thread topic by hovering over it with the mouse cursor and reading the pop-up Tool-Tip text that I presume comes from the Alt-Text property of the object in the web page (I know that's what specifies what you see when hovering over an image). Firefox 9 or 10 broke this feature and I cant believe it's still broken in Firefox 11 Beta (why haven't users DEMANDED it back?!). Indeed, qwantz.com's Daily Dinosaur Comics are only half as funny if you can't read the daily image alt-text with the daily webcomic.
Chrome sucks for forums due to the fact that it doesn't support BBCODE keyboard shortcuts for adding tags like italics, underline, bold, etc, so, I have to use IE for any serious thread-pruning.
But here's the thing: IE isn't always an option and so I use Firefox Portable for a large percentage of my forum browsing anyway. It updated sometime in the last month and FIXED the alt text! I waited for the same updat to hit FF10.0.2 and it never came so I jumped to FF11 beta and found that it is still not working.
What gives? Why does it work on the latest FF Portable but not on FF proper or 11 beta? Why is it taking so long to fix?!
