(How) can I get MSI AfterBurner to manually specify a GPU clock speed?

I was reading this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2289212 and I wondered whether my 5770's poor performance with Tomb Raider Chronicles (yes, ancient game, I know) might be explained by the graphics card clocking down when it shouldn't. It isn't bad all the way through the game, but I'm at a point in the game where it is stuttering quite a lot (no other games have any problems).

If I would be better off using the driver to manage the clock speeds, that's fine, but I thought I ought to mention that I'm using AfterBurner as well. I would prefer not to run the GPU at full speed all day long, I don't mind cranking it up myself before starting the game, and cranking it down afterwards.

What you could try is setting a profile in afterburner. Set the clock speeds you want and load up the profile before you start the game. Then drop back to defaults when finished.

Also check your power tune settings in the AMD control panel. Set it to +20 and see if that makes a difference before you start changing clock speeds.

I've already got a profile set up for fan management, but I can't figure out how to handle clock speeds in a profile.

Been a while since i setup my OC but if i remember correctly you need to go into setting and tick the box that allows clock speed adjustments and then you can set the clock speed and save the profile. Before you tick the box the sliders are grayed out IIRC.

Download RadeonPro beta (link to download). It has a feature to force the highest clock speed at all times while in-game, this can of course be specified for a particular game profile so it will only activate in the game you want. It's a fantastic tool, I used it to cure stutters in Dishonored with my 7950.

It has a ton of other nice features like integrated SweetFX, FXAA and SMAA, adaptive Vsync, frame rate capping, OSD function a la MSI Afterburner, forcing MSAA in games that otherwise don't support it, and so on. I don't need any other GPU tool apart from GPU-Z for VRM temp monitoring and monitoring data logging.
