Hey guys,

I picked up an Albatron GF4 Ti4200P TURBO....I have it o/c'ed to 285/605 right now....Any higher and UT2k3 has little random "lock ups".......it pauses for just a few seconds.....What can I do to get more out of this bad boy?

Luke

if you still have original heatsink/fan on and havnt touched the thermal grease:
1. apply arctic silver2/3
2. get better case air flow (maybe a side blowhole, or 1front and 1rear case fan to help circulate if you dont already
3. better heatsink/fan combo (chrome orbs are pretty nice and most widely used)

Have you ever seen the HSF on the Ti4200P Turbo?

Here's a linky for you

I haven't thought about the thermal goop though......supposedly, the GPU's arent' completely flat either.....So maybe I should try and lap it?

Hmm......Anyone else?

I have the gainward Ti4200.. Cooling dosnt come close to the albatron. I replaced the stock thermal goop with some AC3 and can run the core at 315 stable. (320 for about 1 hour in UT and shows some artifacts)

I have one of these too, seems like ALL are a dud coming from albatron now.

Only does 285/625.

I get this freeze and go type thing if the core goes any higher no matter what mem. kind of like your lock ups where it pauses and is back again.

Ive also taken off the hsf to put as.

Good luck, havent tried lapping but Ive never lapped a gpu before so maybe later.

Random lock ups can indicate a weak PSU, GF4 cards do draw more juice then typical cards, some motherboards also have a AGP overvolt setting on them, I know that some gigabyte boards do, and maybe asus. Does the card get hot when it locks up? If not, then I would say lack of juice is bringing you down.

The PSU is a 330w Enermax unit.....And it runs my AXP 1800+ @ 1.74ghz @ 1.9v perfectly stable...So i seriously doubt its the PSU 🙂
