how can I further optimize and speed up my pc with these specs:
is there a possibility to still make this pc faster w/out replacing any hardware the specs are:

VX PRO+ CHIPSET UDMA33
PENTIUM MMX 225MHZ
96 MB SDRAM
1 MB S3 TRIO VIDEO CARD
16 BIT SOUNDCARD
3 HARDDISK
56X CD-ROM
WINDOWS MILLENIUM EDITION (bugy)
my system is clean, i just reformated it, defragmented, and scandisk it

the processor speed is already at it's fullest cause I cant overclock it anymore, and the mobo cant cache all the physical memory installed.

BTW will i get much faster speed if I increased my mobo's cache which is 512k from 64MB to 128MB

my problem is this I have a VX PRO+ UDMA33 mobo runs at 512k cache, sysoft told me that
Warning W2510: Chipset may not be able to cache all the physical memory installed.
Tip T2536:
System has no SMBus/i2c/BMB bus support.

how can i make my mobo cache all the physical memory in my mobo, i have two RAM installed (1 64 MB and 1 32 MB SDRAM)I know this is possible cause one guy told me that in the bios dated 04/30/98-537+UMC8670F-2A5LDH09C-00. somebody told me that i can cache upto 128Mb of RAM. The default setting caches only 64Mb.
Tell me how how to do it pls

Even if u r able to cache all the RAM...I'm sorry to say tht it won't bring u significance speed coz the bottle neck is everywhere for a system tht old.

Try Window 95 or 98 to bring the best out of ur system as these OS is in the era as of ur system.

win 95 will be the fastest.

there are other options like maxing the ram, the onboard cache (some older boards allowed for that) and then you can run that sucker @400MHZ.

what you say, yes you can. just check the CPU upgrades at pricewatch or go to Tigerdirect, i have installed several of these on some older systems that are still running today just fine.

all of the above will juice that rig of yours quite a bit, but, unfortunately, it will be restricted by old technology. don't get me wrong, it will be much faster and more powerful, but don't expect it to be the gaming rig from hell when you get done.

video card would be another good place to make a MAJOR improvement. just how much do you want to spend????? might want to consider the options, like investing $200 or less, maybe $250 with some new DDR ram (you would be spending $$$ anyway on an older system), getting a duron and a socket a M/B (Epox 8K7A+) and go with it.

the only other problem i see is your present p/s and/or box, that may have to be changed out also, again you can get into a nice one for around $50 that will serve you more than adequately.

these are just random thoughts, i would hate to see you invest too much in an aging system when upgrading is really CHEAP, plus the Epox will support the next generation of processors, yahoo!!

Its choppy because you only have 96 meg of ram, I have a geforce 3, 128 meg of ram and with win98 and diablo 2 I eat all of the ram. I leaned my rig out as much as I could, no other programs run and I use ram booster program, which I recommend highly, and I still have no ram left when I play D2. Windows itself eats more than I think 60 meg of ram so that leaves you with 30 for everything else to fight over, not much for D2. I hear D2 like more like 256 and it will run smooth. I dont know for sure I read all this somewhere, who knows whats true.

but one thing though, are you sure the "tweaked bios" from ajzchips.freeserves for a M537 VX PRO+ UDMA is compatible with my VX PRO+ UDMA33, cause I have doubts about the name specially the 33 there. btw aj are you a Filipino? And also will it make my system run faster if the mobo run at a higher cacher i.e. 128 MB instead of 64 MB? I have a 96 MB RAM

Is VX PRO+ UDMA the same with a VX PRO+ UDMA33? I have doubts on the name specially on the 33.

well my system has 96 MB of RAM but i have doubts if what will be the result if i enabled the mobo to cache up to 128 MB, my mobo currently caches only 64 MB, and it doesnt cache all my physical memory. BTW does system slows down if the physical memory isnt cached to the fullest?
