How can i find out what type of line my internet connection is?

Type? TI, DSL, cable? Or we talking media like fiber, copper, rj-11, wireless, microwave, 2 cans and a string? :)

yea i assumed it was either of those, i was more curious if there is a way to tell the # (i.e. T1, T3, OC12, etc...)

I call it home :)

Try DNSing your IP. Sometimes (RARELY) the type of connection is listed in the hostname.
Edit: BTW I hate you :D

He's in Europe, so it would be a E-x or possibly OC-x. Sorry, Cisco made me do that :)


My guess is that's it's a uber fash connection cuz they haven't discovered P2P:D

Nope, my DNS comes up as XXXXX.sshunet.nl

the xxxxx being my computers name.

well.. you're probably an E1 or a fractional E2/E3..

E1 2.048 Mbps
E2 8.448 Mbps
E3 34.368 Mbps

one that makes me EXTREMELY JEALOUS...I'm sure you're behind an OC3 or something...thats what my university had when I had similar speeds.

he's beyond the E1 range, he's probably E2 or E3. if its university, they like lots of bandwidth prlly E3

Its a HUGE university so i wouldnt be surprized if its the E3 then...
