How can I find out what motherboard/chipset my Laptop has?

This isn't one of those specs laptop manufacturers normally disclose, so I was wondering if there was any way I can find out what motherboard chipset my laptop is using. I have a compaq 1800 w/ a p3 600. I tried checking the system information in winxp, but it does not disclose the chipset info. Any suggestions?

open up your laptop and then look at the laptop motherboard...

i opened up mine (Compaq Presario 1700...P3 600), dont remember what motherboard it was (definately not Intel). I think it was VIA chipset.....

Spin a system diagnostics program. That'll tell you. There are plenty of PCI bus summarizers out there ...
