How can I find out what modem drivers to use with AOL if it doesn't autodetect it?

First off, I am well aware that AOL sucks. But some of my family still uses it, and for some reason on the computer (a little bit old) AOL will not recognize the modem.

Under modems in system properties it is listed as "Sound III 336SP"

Any Ideas?

Go into the control panel and then to modems and then diagnostics. Highlight the com port that the modem is on and click on more info. What does it have for ATI #'s 3,4,6 and 7. When you post that info I will tell you how to set the modem up in AOL.

It may not be crapped out just not set up properly. Either way it is the problem.

I can pick up another modem pretty cheap i guess..

Thanks for the help.

is it possible that it is a winmodem and not installed into windows first?
