How can I find out what LCD is compatible with my old Dell? (Laptop)

Dell Latitude C600 (P3-700) - The LCD always flickered and got all funky/staticy...squeezing it on the edges would eventually get it to focus back. Eventually it developed 2 lines going straight down the screen, one white/one yellow, which were a bit to the left of the middle of the screen.

So the wireless card seemed to sh!t itself, and while I was waiting for it to reboot I was squeezing the edge, put a little extra force into it and......CRACK. Nice big splatter at the top, and after the fact I'd say that only 10% of the screen was visible.

The LCD is a 14.1" IBM, Part Number 47L8420. I've googled around for those and they come up at 300-400 from random stores, but I found a 14.1" Samsung on eBay (Link) that states that it's a replacement for the C600 yet the auction states to check the compatibility.

How do I know this Samsung model would work? Google hasn't done me any favors in my search~ :(

Thanks!

Hey, Ben,

If I were in your unfortunate situation, I'd call Samsung in New Jersey tomorrow, give them the part # for that LCD, and just ask if it'll be compatible with your Dell notebook. And if they say yes, get the name of the person who told you so (so you can have some chance of getting your $$ back if for some reason it ends up not working).

Cool. :) Do a quick post to let us know how you come out.

BTW (and not to insult your intelligence), have you ever replaced a laptop LCD screen before? I never have, and I doubt if it would be simple. I only mention this 'cuz I'd hate to see you score a nice deal on a new screen and then crack it during replacement! Aaaaack! I've heard of that happening.

Took the old one out before I even started to look for a new one, so I'm pretty familiar with the process.

Plus I got a PDF from Dell on how to disassemble the LCD, etc.

I also e-mailed another seller asking him if he knew if what he was selling would be a compatible replacement for my old one, so we'll see...

Thanks again! :)
