Is there a site that I can plug a url in and it tell me how big it is in terms of file size (kb/mb)? Also, is there a standard for how big (or small) a web page should be normally?

I believe it's just the HTML. If you want, you can download the Firebug extension for Firefox and enable the net monitoring component. It will sum up the sizes of everything on the page your browser is downloading and it will show you the time it takes to download those items as well.
