How can I find my Half Life - Cd key with steam?

Does anyone know how to find the key for Half - cd key. I'm about to format my computer, but the only place the # is stored is in my computer

If you just want to use steam, you don't need your key anymore after you put it in.

You cd-key is now associated with your e-mail addy so you don't need to punch it in during installation. Just be sure that you install Steam right after your install Half-Life + HL updates.

But if you must know, its stored in the registry.

you don't even need to install half-life and updates. just download the steam client and let it update.
