How can I figure out how many dead pixels my monitor has?

you can look with your eyeball and see little tiny black specs and if they arent specks of dust then they are pixels which are DOA.

if you are not sure if there are...why worry ? If you ask for a test...its like you are deliberately looking for it. But if they are not obvious...then well just relax.

If you dont see any obvious ones on either a) plain DARK background (eg. white spots) - or DARK spots on white background...then i'd say just be happy with your monitor ?

Yeah, Last year I did a google and came up with some "tests"
All they do is give you all red then green then blue then black then whitW SCreens
and you can look for the dead guys.

addendum: on my older 19" crt i have ONE extremly tiny pixel. when i got my monitor i was mad and worried about returning the monitor , RMAing etc...but since i bought at ebay...well...

Now i realize how dumb it is. I have always MORE dust particles on my screen, SOME of the normal dust particles are far more obvious/"disturbing" then the tiny dead pixel...so i realized how dumb it is to get mad over one ultra tiny dead pixel 🙂

Agreed, use this one. Like others said, it involves you looking for yourself, the color patterns just help.

If you have dirt on your glasses or on your eyeball, results might vary 😉
