How can i export outlook address book and import it into outlook express?

Just as the title says.

I can't appear to export the outlook address book as a .wab file....which appears to be the only type of address book i can import in outlook express

is this possible?

It should still keep the address book as a .wab file somewhere on the disk, run a search and rip it out yourself.

I searched for .wab and found only the current outlook express address book and nothing else.

Not sure if i was being clear or not above, but I'm looking for a way to take the address book from Outlook XP and move it to Outlook Express 5.

OK, what address book formats will Outlook XP export?
The actual "Address Book" application can import many types of address book, including comma-separated-values, which Outlook XP should definitely be able to export.

outlook xp will export comma-separated-values...and you're sure outlook EXPRESS will be able to import that??

Not Outlook Express, the accompanying "Address Book" utility.

Well, hey! Lookee here, search for the file "wabmig.exe" on your hard drive. That is Outlook Express' address book import tool.
You're set!

wow! that looks good! unfortunately, i just realized i have to dig out my office xp disc to install the outlook "translator" feature which will let me export to comma separated values DOH!

so i'm work on that and let you know if this idea works!

Just import the .wab file into OE. That'll work. I did it the other day. I was importing the OE address book from one OS into another on the same HD, but your situation sounds like it will do the same thing.

the problem with that is that Oulook XP doesn't have a .wab file.... .wab's are only from outlook express address books.

i'm looking to import an outlook XP address book into outlook express 5.

the idea about exporting to comma separated values will be my best bet, but for some reason the translator to allow me to export to that format from oulook xp won't install.

i might be re-installing everything soon, so i'll probably put this on hold for awhile.
