I tried dragndrop, but it rejects it. Even in itunes. It asks me to 'synch' it. I tired, but it starts processing all kinds of files and taking a long time, so I canceled. 3 times before I have just wanted to add a couple of files, and it required 'synch'ing, starts doing something to my whole phone, and deleted a bunch of unrelated files I needed. grrr
How can I just add a few photos? why do they need to make it so troublesome?
I don't want to change the jailbreak or any of that crap either.

You can always use dropbox to sync them over in the cloud. To transfer it into the Photos app you would have to use the syncing mechanism through iTunes. There's no drag and drop for that.

Open the files in full screen and then take a picture of the monitor with your iPhone.

Is there a way to 'synch' without scanning my whole phone and auto deleting files/photos o need?

Just use dropbox.

Apple doesn't provide a way to copy individual files to the iPhone filesystem. They hide the filesystem from the user, because most of the time users have no reason to care about how and where files are stored.

Ugh, really? I can plug my Droid into any computer, toggle USB storage, and instantly access anything on my phone's micro sd card. I use this to routinely add/share music, photos, txt files, pdfs, etc.

Root access, yo!

Dropbox is the easiest way.

Or sync it through iTunes. But iTunes sucks in my experience. And it will resync everything.

Why is it that most people don't have these problems?

Plug in idevice
In the photos tab choose the folder with the photos
Sync
Done

I have a folder to hold photos to go to my iPad. Every few weeks I add new ones to the folder and they automatically sync. When icloud comes out it will be easier

I'm assuming that he synced it with another computer at some point (maybe regularly) and he wants to copy pictures from some other computer.

jailbreak the device and use third party file manager like ifunbox. the interface is very similar to itunes so you should be able to navigate easily, except iFunbox allows you to drag files into their respective libraries individually without syncing an offline archive, so changes you make to the file system are applied instantly. it also gives you direct file system access if you want to create your own folder hierarchy for whatever purpose.
