How can I download windows updates?

I need to be able to download the actual update , not just a small download file that allows me to download and install all in one program. I have some computers that need updates that I work on that do not have easy access to internet. What is a easy way just to download the full update so I can put it on a disc and use on whatever computer I am working on.

Windows Update Catalog

Have a look at the left side navigation bar, and you'll notice Windows Update Catalog, click that, and you can download the .exes.

Youve got it. It took me a while to figure it out when I needed it about a month ago.

Uh thanks fellas but I do not see one exe file anywhere in there. Where are the lists of updates for each OS?

After you've enabled the Catalog feature on WindowsUpdate, you actually have to perform a search to get the resulting files. I think you have to pick an OS at a minimum.

I don't think MS maintains a direct comprehensive list of updates anymore. They's probably got a nice Access/SQL database behind WindowsUpdate now that's easier to manage.

Have you found a solution to saving updates? I have the same concern. I need to do a clean install of W98SE. I want to find a way to locate all of the updates and bug fixes so I can burn them to a CD for quicker installation. I only have a dial-up connection and it would take days to download over 4 years of patches and fixes including IE6.02.
