how can I disable onboard audio on in vista?

I'm having a difficult time with this. I just built a computer and used the sound card my Asus mobo came. For some reason the sound doesn't work, so I'm assuming this is because I didn't disable the onboard audio? also would there be any drivers for the card?

mobo is a asus p5e, thanks

First, this is in the wrong forum. To disable the audio you would normally turn it off in the BIOS. Vista should detect the new hardware and either install the drivers or ask for the drivers.
