In an effort to purchase a nice cheap joystick (NOT PAD!) for my PC, I bought a USB->PSX/PS2 adaptor and the PSX/PS2 ShadowBlade Arcade Stick by Interact.
Unfortunately, the Shadowblade has an interesting way of doing analog...it internally detects whether a PSX game uses analog/digital, and both analog controls are actually built into the stick itself of the joystick. The problem is that apparently PSX adaptors, such as the one I had bought from lik-sang, detect both analog coming from the stick, and basically show it going all over the place uncontrollably or halted at the bottom left corner. I hooked up the stick to an actual PSX and it worked fine, so I know there's nothing wrong with it.
What I would like to do is open the sucker up and somehow disable analog in the hardware itself, so that no analog is detected at all by the USB adapter. This may seem pointless, but the use of the joystick will be for MAME 6-8 button fighting games that do not need analog control. I'm very comfortable with soldering and modifying it, but I'm not entirely sure what to do, or if it even can be done.
Does anyone know how to do this?
