How can I convert a MP3 file into a MUS file?

I have Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and while I think the game is fun I absolutely HATE the music. I've read somewhere that the music CAN be replaced with your own mp3's, but they need to be converted to .MUS (which is the format THPS3 uses) and then the name of the file has to be renamed ..using the name of the original MUS file that is being replaced.

Has anyone done this?? Does anyone know how to convert the file?? I know I cant rename the extension (doesnt work that way)..so there has to be a program I can use to do this.

An easier method would be to turn of the music in THPS3 and just play mp3's in the background. It works fine and you don't have to mess with converting files.
