How can I control my computer remotely?

The situation:

Bought a cheap $200 computer for boxing day
Only have a laptop -- no monitor

I'd like to control it remotely over a home network. However, Windows remote assistance won't fly because it requires the 'assisted' computer to authorize the network user. Having no monitor means I obviously won't be able to click any authorization prompts.

Thoughts?

It is infinitely better than VNC.

Well that's not an option given I have Vista Home Premium.

TightVNC seems to be working well for me. Thanks guys.

Well actually, it's not great. Lots of things on the screen won't update at all, and only half of the window will render (like you can only see half an IE window).
