I basically want to conect my computer and my kids at home so we can play some game over a lan setting, I'm new to this, all I have is this, both computers have a base 10/100 tx nic, and just a crossover rj45 cable. Is this all I need? Do I need some router or a switch? I'm running win98 on both computers. I tried today but I have no clue how to make them link together, Is there an application under win98 to do this, win 98 configure both of the cards (plug and play) and gave them drivers, I didn't have the original software for the cards, they seem fine, but because I didn't have any king of software or drivers I don't know, basically I'm loss, any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Check out the AT FAQ

Should get you started

And yes, all you need is a crossover cable for what you're looking to do.
