How can I change a component's IRQ assignment?

I'm trying to get both my Radeon and SBLive! on their own IRQs (as they're both sharing IRQs at the moment though not with each other) in an effort to fix some random locking/freezing problems in UT and Sacrifice.

I've freed two IRQs by disabling COM2 and disabling SB16 Emulation. However, I can't change the IRQ designations for either the Radeon or the SBLive! through the Device Manager/Properties/Resources screens. It just says "you can't change this resource assignment" or something like that. Am I going to have to physically take out and reinstall both cards to get them to use these two free IRQs? Thanks for your help anyone. I'm using WinME by the way.

Make sure that your SBLive is not plugged into PCI Slot 1, as this slot shares IRQ with the AGP slot. If your SBLive is in PCI1, move it to PCI2 or something.

The SBLive! isn't in PCI1 The SB and the Radeon aren't sharing IRQs with each other. It was just the fact that each of them is sharing an IRQ with something else, period, that made me want to change it.

For instance, the Radeon is sharing IRQ5 with "IRQ Holder for PCI Steering" and the Sound Blaster Live is sharing IRQ12 with "Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller." I kind of doubt this is what is causing my freezes during UT and Sacrifice, but it's the last thing I can think of that could be causing it (aside from just sucky ATI drivers of course :) ).

Also, I'd just like to know how to change the IRQs for future reference because the procedure I described in my first post seems like it should work but it just doesn't let me change anything. Unless this is just more "moron protection" from WinME.

The Radeon will always be sharing with IRQ Holder for PCI Steering, that's the way ACPI works, and is normal. That will not be the cause of your problem.

Try to shift the USB IRQ instead of the SBLive IRQ....you should have more luck with that.

The Raedon sharing an IRQ is fine, since that supposed other item is just the BIOS's way of telling Window's that the Raedon is supposed to use said IRQ. As for your SB live, try reseting the ESCD(not all mobo's support it), chaning IRQs in the BIOS(again, only if your mobo supports it), and lastly, try moving the SB Live.
