How can I capture/record HD satellite TV?

I'm looking to somehow patch my StarChoice receiver (Motorola DSR505HD) into my PC so that I can record the odd show if I'm gonna be out or something.

Are there cards that can hook into either the HDMI or component ports? Can the PCI bus handle it? Will my CPU be too weak to deal with it (AXP3200+)?

I found some info that says something about $3500 worth of equipment making this possible. I can get a "DVR" box from Star Choice for $600CDN. I was hoping to be able to create a PC-based solution for cheaper.
