As the title says, I've been reading up on the whole 'removing NetBIOS to make your network faster thing. When we originally set up my work network (Active Directory 2003) we had a single Windows 98 machine on it; that machine is gone. When I look at my Domain Controller (primary - Windows 2003 Enterprise), the WINS tab for the IP Properties shows "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" being checked. My secondary DC (Windows 2003 Standard) has the radio button for "Default" checked on the WINS tab.
All of the workstations are XP Pro, and it looks like they've all got "Default" selected.
What do I have to do to get rid of NetBIOS and rely strictly on TCP/IP/DNS/DHCP?
I appreciate any help,
Steve
EDIT: Gah. I just read a Microsoft paper that said Exchange 2003 requires NetBIOS for full functionality. WTF.
