How can I amplify a homemade xylophone?

It's made of wood, styrofoam, and pipes. Around how much do amplifiers cost? I know nothing of amplifiers.

Uhh what? Real mallet instruments don't need any amplification, save for vibes in a loud jazz ensemble. Xylophones in particular and very hard and loud. If you use hard mallets it shouldn't be difficult to produce a very very loud noise.

Yeah, I'd change the mallets first.
