How can I add bluetooth to my laptop?

I just got a new PDA cell phone with broadband internet service... It can connect to a computer (my laptop) and act as a modem. The service is great; I've used it a few times via the USB cable.

Anyhow... I don't want to carry that cable with me all the time. The phone can also communicate with a computer via bluetooth. At this time, my laptop is not bluetooth enabled.

I prefer not to get one of those USB bluetooth devices because I want something semi-permanent. The USB bluetooth adapters stick out a couple inches and is bound to break my USB port if left it plugged in when I move the laptop around. If I don't leave it plugged in, I'll end up losing it! Besides, the whole purpose of me wanting blue tooth is to NOT require an extra adapter.

So where could I get an express-card bluetooth adapter? *OR* how else can I add bluetooth support to my laptop?

Thanks in advance :)

Well, if you told us what brand of laptop you ahve it would make things easier.

If you have an apple built in the last... 3-4 years, you ahve bluetooth built in

If you ahve a dell built in the past 3-4 years, you have a connector, in your laptop somewhere that is for connecting a bluetooth module, call dell

If you have any other manufacturer, you may have a connector in there already (see Dell above) but maybe not, call the manufacturer.

For an express card adapter, go to newegg, and in the search box type "Bluetooth" or perhaps "expresscard bluetooth"

yea its a dell e1705, about 1 year old...

I can't seem to find info about an expresscard bluetooth adapter (I guess they dont exist) or about the internal connector you were talking about...

edit: nevermind, found the internal dell adapters. Thanks!
