Is there a way to simply add a second harddrive pre-loaded with Windows 98SE in an existing Windows 2000 Pro? Windows 2000 pro is running in drive C. The other harddrive is from a similar computer where it's the second master drive. Windows 98SE in in this drive and configured as drive D. Can I simply move this drive into the Windows 2000 computer and possibly change something in the boot.ini so that it can offer to boot Windows 98 in drive D?

Try installing the Win98 hard drive as the slave on the primary IDE channel. Then boot from the Win2K CD and run setup. When prompted, select to "repair" the Win2K install. Then select to repair the boot files. Hopefully, setup will see the Win98 disk and add the appropriate boot files.

Thanks. I already connected the drive as Master on the 1st channel of the ATA-100 PCI card. I did a sys C, booted to dos and edit MSDOS.SYS to point and load Windows 98 from D. Then used the Windows 2000 CD to repair the Windows 2000 boot up.

I got the infor from Frank Condron
